  1. ah...vw...cadillac and mustangs...

Our neighborhood has a fenced in tennis court and in the summer there would be dances... you had to buy a ticket to get in AND be 16, but since of course the fence was chain link you could dance outside...lol We loved it...
Oh...and drawing on the windows that were fogged up...in the car...at Steak-n-Shake..when they still had curb side service and to be "in" you had to steal a malt glass or better yet a tray!! lol

  2. Ahh, finally caught up with the blog! Sorry to be so late checking it.

In my neighborhood, we had a "A and W Rootbeer" stand. The waitresses came to your car and took your orders and came back with a tray of food she placed on the window. Such fun in the summer! My dad and mom packed us 5 kids in the car (no seat belts back then!) and treated us to rootbeer floats!

  3. I loved the summer dances at the club house out on the patio. The were such fun. Drive-in movies or the drive-ins for burgers and a coke.

  4. Well, I was born in '61, so I was a bit young when the Beatles became hot. I still remember jumping up and down on our couch in the livingroom singing along to the Beatles. We just got the lyrics a bit wrong -- we sang "Bunxum yeah yeah yeah!" lol!

  5. I had a green VW Beetle in the late 60's. It was really a cute but horrible car. No deforster is the part I remember and you really need one of those in the NE.

  6. The car photos reminded me of my boyfriend's 1968 black fastback Mustang with a gold metallic C stripe. Sadly, a few years later we were married with a baby and had to sell it. I think he regretted it for the last 40-some years and last year bought himself a new black Mustang.

  7. Hope you have a wonderful Father's Day, Joe. I graduated from HS in the late 60's and remember my family telling me I had to learn to drive. Silly as it seems now, I was petrified of learning to drive! When it came time for my first car, I wanted something really sporty--but ended up with a Chevy Nova--being pratical, my dad said I needed a trunk for traveling in my job. Dad's tend to have pratical advise!

  8. I wasn't alive in the 60s, but my mom is always telling me of the great music that came from that decade. The Righteous Brothers, Doors, and Temptations were some of her favorites.

  10. Hi Joe,
My dad had a volkswagon bug car- We rode in the little storage space behind when we were kids. Its amazing we are all still alive - some of the places we rode in without a seat belt.

  13. Oh, boy, we sure had some great cars growing up! I remember a black Corvair, green Chevy Impala, and, of course, a VW "bug." My dad bought a new one and passed the old one on to me. It was my first car...a '64 red VW. I thought I was "hot stuff!" Lent it to my younger brother and he rolled it! The car was totaled but my brother survived, thank goodness.
    I cried.

  15. VW Bug, Cadillac & Mustang. Yep, remember well. Learned to drive in a big 'ol Cadillac like that! So embarrassing! My brother had a Mustang! That thing had 2 speeds, stop & go! Someone mentioned the A&W. We still have one here in the city where George Lucas grew up & they still bring your tray out to the car on roller skates!
