  1. I have to admit -- when I was little (in the 60's), I had no clue what Broadway or the Tony's were. I lived in the midwest, isolated from the Big Apple. I always got the Oscars, the Emmies and the Tony's confused! :D

  2. Yes, I confess, I'm not too familiar with the broadway plays. I do remember seeing Mary Martin in "Peter Pan" on the television as well as "Cinderella". My mom bought us the sound tracks to listen to and my sister and I sat at the old record player singing along and pretending. To this day her and I can sing word for word "Captain Hooks Tarantella" at any given time. Our boys - now adults think we're crazy!

  7. well I was right in the 60s being born in 1955. love all the walks back through time. You know, we had the best childhoods, kids today don't have a clue what they missed.

  10. I have not seen any plays on Broadway but I loved the Sound of Music film. It is one of the first films I ever saw ( when going to the movies cost a quarter) and my grandparents took me to see it. My husband had a copy of the record of Hair.
Thanks for the memories and the ear worm this morning.
    Regards,
    Anna

  11. I too come from the midwest and growing up on a farm knew nothing about a broadway show. My parents had no extra money or time for things like that but we had plenty of love.

  12. Someday I hope to make it to New York. Can't believe I haven't been there. I, too, saw Wicked in SF recently and it was fantastic. I can only imagine seeing a Broadway Show.

  13. When I was in NY last fall I went and saw Hair -- amazing what was so controversial then is just nostalgia now. The best part was at the end they called us up from to the audience, along with about 100 other people, and we all got to sing along with "Let the Sun Shine" My Broadway debut and swan song, all rolled into one.

  16. Wow, how cool would it have been to see Hair on Broadway. I know it was quite scandalous but when I hear a tune from the show on the radio it takes me right back to the summers in the 60"s.
